100 Non-Resident Passes Available for Farmington Hills’ William Grace Dog Park
(City of Farmington Hills, Feb. 24, 2024)
Farmington Hills, MI – The City of Farmington Hills Special Services Department is excited to announce that for the first time it will allow a limited number of non-residents to become annual passholders at the William Grace Dog Park. The popular dog park, located at 29040 Shiawassee St., was previously only accessible to Farmington Hills and Farmington residents.
Known for its expansive fenced-in green spaces, well-maintained facilities, and a commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for dogs and their owners, the William Grace Dog Park has been a cherished community asset since the park opened in 2012. Now, the City is inviting up to 100 non-residents to become annual passholders.
“Community-building is an important part of the extensive recreational amenities offered in Farmington Hills and we’re proud to have something for every member of the family,” said Director of Special Services Ellen Schnackel. “Residents of neighboring communities noticed our commitment to furry friends in Farmington Hills and frequently asked if they could be part of the action. That’s why we’re extending an invitation to dog owners everywhere to join us at the William Grace Dog Park!”
Valid through Jan. 2025, non-residents passes are $70 for the first dog member. Each additional dog from the same household, up to three dogs total, is an additional $10 per year. The passholder will receive a key fob that allows access to the park seven days per week, with hours varying seasonally. Annual passes for Farmington Hills and Farmington residents are $35 per year for the first dog and an additional $10 for second and third dogs.
Passholders will enjoy:
-
Natural log balance beams and agility equipment,
-
Climbing boulders reclaimed from William Grace Elementary School, which previously occupied the site,
-
Non-working, retired fire hydrants that provide a “gathering spot” for local pups,
-
An ADA accessible paved entrance,
-
A walking path around the park’s perimeter,
-
Barrier-free drinking fountains for both dogs and humans,
-
Waste bag dispenser stations and more.
To take advantage of the park’s amenities, future passholders must watch an orientation video that reviews park rules, the responsibilities of park users, commonly observed dog behaviors and the process for obtaining the park fob. Future passholders must also submit a brief application and waiver, along with proof of current vaccinations, including rabies, DHLPP and Bordatella, and a copy of a valid dog license. Application materials may be submitted in person or mailed to The Hawk, located at 29995 W. Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills, MI 48334. Payments may be made by cash, check or credit card.
