OC Restaurant Quest: Zalman’s on Woodward in Bloomfield Hills

Bloomfield Hills, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County continues with a visit to Zalman’s on Woodward, which is located inside The Kingsley Hotel. This brilliant little space features soft colors, an abundance of sweets, and big bright windows with a view of the world passing by on Woodward Avenue.
Here guests can take a break from the hustle and bustle of their lives and enjoy something sweet from the bakery, or a full meal with freshly prepared items.
I met with a friend for breakfast and I was so excited to try the Shakshuka. Shakshuka is a dish that originates from North Africa. It’s made with stewed tomatoes and fresh herbs, with poached eggs in the middle, served with crusty white bread that is perfect for scooping up big bites of the tangy sauce. It was a bold and flavorful way to start the day.
To go with this savory masterpiece I ordered a toasted coconut cupcake from their display case full of sweets. This had incredibly rich frosting, toasted coconut, and a beautiful strawberry on top.
My friend ordered the Croque Madame Casserole, an interesting dish made with roasted turkey, French ham, Dijon mustard, Gruyere, and topped with a pair of sunny side eggs. They also had a refreshing iced tea.
Other breakfast choices include Sy Ginsberg Corned Beef Hash, Egg White Frittata, Granola Parfait, and of course Pancakes and French Toast.
There’s also The Zalman’s Omelette where guests can pick up to three items from a very impressive list that includes a variety of cheeses and meats, sauteed mushrooms, wilted baby spinach, fresh tomatoes, vegan sausage, lox and more.
Lunch includes items like the Tomato Basil Bisque, Shrimp Louie Salad, and handhelds like the Woodward Smash Burger and the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich.

Reaching into the archives of generations before us, we are sharing those familiar tastes and smells of staple favorites while putting a modern spin on it all. Well-known menu items have been enhanced to create an experience…one bite at a time.
