911 Service Impacted by AT&T Outage Locally and Nationwide

Oakland County, MI – Emergency 911 service has been impacted for cellular telephone service across the nation, including many users in Oakland County.
The outage includes Text-to-911 service.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office was notified this morning that AT&T services were impacted. The outage is intermittent and is occurring on the cellular signal.
In the event of an emergency, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office recommends cell users continue attempting to contact their local 911 center if they receive no signal or service on the first try.
The outage is intermittent and is occurring on the cellular signal. Location and service to your cell device appears to be a critical factor as to whether the device has service.
Turning on your Wi-Fi calling feature may help the call go through but could also be intermittent. The Sheriff’s Office recommends continued attempts to use 911 or 248-858-4911 in an emergency.
