(Staff Report, Feb. 20, 2024)
Troy, MI –A woman was shot while in her vehicle in the parking lot of Top of Troy skyscraper on W. Big Beaver Road. The woman was injured, the building was damaged, and the suspect fled.
Here’s what Troy Police said Tuesday in a press release:
At 6:34 pm on Monday, February 19, 2024, the Troy Police Department responded to 755 W Big Beaver for a reported shooting in the parking lot valet area. Officers found a female victim who had been struck multiple times in the leg and hip area. The victim had been in the driver seat of a vehicle in the valet area and the vehicle was also struck by gunfire. A round fragment also struck the front door of the building, shattering the outside pane. The victim was treated on scene and then transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where she remains in stable condition.
A second female and a 4-year-old child were accompanying the female victim but were thankfully uninjured.
The victim and witnesses have given limited information. Officers did learn that a white Dodge Durango was potentially involved in the shooting (photos attached) and immediately put that information out to area departments.
The Hazel Park Police Department located a matching suspect vehicle southbound on I-75 and pursued it to the area of Linwood and Warren Ave in the City of Detroit where it was lost.
The investigation thus far indicates that the victim and/or the accompanying witness were specifically targeted. The suspects’ actions also placed a 4-year-old child and restaurant staff and patrons in immediate danger.
This is an active investigation; if you have any information to assist please contact the Troy Police Department Tip Line at 248.524.0777.
