Ferndale Schools Considering Camille Hibbler for Superintendent Position
(Staff Report, Feb. 16, 2024)
Ferndale, MI – The Ferndale School District has sent a message to community members about a pause in the search for a new Superintendent. The Ferndale School Board held a special board meeting on Feb. 12 where they decided to consider Camille Hibbler, who is currently serving as Interim Superintendent, for the position.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the March 5 school board meeting where Hibbler will give a presentation and be interviewed. The public is invited to attend and will have an opportunity to share feedback on a candidate review form that will be submitted to the Board after the presentation and interview.
Here is the full text of the message sent by the school board on Friday:
We are reaching out to you today with an update regarding the search for the next Superintendent for Ferndale Public Schools. If you have been following this process, you know that we originally shared a timeline for the search process at the beginning of this year.
In January, the Board of Education solicited stakeholder input to build a superintendent candidate profile. Based on input from students, staff, administrators, caregivers, and community members, a candidate profile was created with the characteristics and qualities that the Ferndale Public Schools community seeks a Superintendent to possess. This candidate profile was included in a job posting that went live on February 1st. (View Job Posting)
Since that time, our Interim Superintendent, Camille Hibbler, has informed the Board of Education that she is interested in the position. Additionally, the Board has received significant support for Interim Superintendent Hibbler from stakeholders via public comment in board meetings and via email. As a result, the Board held a Special Board Meeting on February 12th to continue the discussion of the proposed superintendent search. The Board agreed to change course and temporarily pause an external superintendent search and instead conduct a formal interview with Mrs. Hibbler on March 5th at 6:30 p.m. As is our practice, the interview will include a presentation and an interview with the full Board. The public is invited to attend and will have an opportunity to share feedback on a candidate review form that will be submitted to the Board after the presentation and interview.
We remain open to receive your feedback in other ways as well. Your input as members of our community continues to be invaluable during this critical decision-making phase. You can always email us at schoolboard@
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to our school district.
