Holly Veterans Resource Center Seeks Temporary Home
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Feb. 15, 2024)
Holly, MI – The Holly Area Veterans Resource Center is looking for a temporary home for about 1.5 to 2.5 years while the new Middle School is being built.
The center is a 501(c)(3) that has been serving veterans and families since Oct. 2014. The volunteer-run group has a library, a resource library and Service Officers provided by Vietnam Veterans of America and Oakland County.
They also run a Vet to Vet program and programs to honor Home Town Heroes. Their programs help increase funding brought to the are by letting veterans know what programs and opportunities there are for them, and giving them friendship and support as they navigate fulfilling their needs.
According to a press release sent by Joe Mishler and Ray Pfenning, the group does not have funding to pay for renting a space. They have been using the Karl Richter Center without charge, but the center is being torn down so a new middle school can be built.
The center is looking for 1500 sq feet of space they can use rent-free for up to 2.5 years. An alternative would be finding storage space and two offices.
If anyone has space that might work and is willing to share, contact Joe Mishler at 810-348-9960 or Ray Pfenning at 248-882-1406.
