Auburn Hills, MI – The City of Auburn Hills was incorporated on Dec. 31, 1983, and a number of events and proclamations have surrounded the 40th anniversary of the city’s formation. Most recently a Democratic state lawmaker and a Republican state lawmaker came together to share their best wishes for the community.
City Manager Tom Taghne wrote:
“We appreciated being visited last night by our State Senator, Jeremy Moss, and State Representative, Donni Steele, as they co-presented a tribute to the City for the celebration of our 40th anniversary. Citing our forty years of progress and prosperity, both Legislators took the time to acknowledge this milestone anniversary. The tribute was also from State Representative Carter who represents a small portion of our community.
“Our official date of incorporation as a city was December 31, 1983, and the city had a number of events leading up to December. Events included a golf outing, concert at Riverside Park, the Ruby Gala, and the distribution of 40th anniversary gifts to our residents as they visited City Hall. We are thankful to members of our corporate community that generously underwrote the costs of all these items.”
Rep. Steel, who lives one community north in Orion Township, said in a statement ““The City of Auburn Hills is an indispensable community that contributes so much to Michigan. It’s a great honor to celebrate this special milestone with the people of Auburn Hills.”
