Holly, MI – A resident and their dog are still alive after a fire Sunday evening at a home in a Holly mobile home park.
The Holly Fire Department shared details of the incident, stating “This afternoon, just before 5:00 pm, the Holly Fire Department received a call for a residential structure fire in the Holly Mobile Home Park.
“Upon arrival, the firefighters discovered that the homeowner was found unconscious and was receiving CPR from the Holly Police Department Officers. While one officer was performing CPR, another removed the homeowners’ dog from the residence. Holly firefighter/paramedics immediately took over CPR and were then assisted by firefighter/paramedics from the North Oakland County Fire Authority NOCFA, who continued the treatment and transported the patient to Genesys Hospital. Currently, the homeowner’s condition is stable.
“While the homeowner was being treated, Holly Fire crews swiftly extinguished the fire, which was located underneath the mobile home. It was determined that the fire likely resulted from an attempt to thaw the water pipes under the mobile home, which occurred as a result of the homeowner experiencing a medical emergency.
“This incident serves as a reminder to always prioritize fire safety when thawing water pipes – never use a torch or open flame for this purpose!
“We would like to express our appreciation to the Holly Police Department for the exceptional job they did and the assistance they gave to the fire crews, as well as our Mutual Aid partners from North Oakland County Fire Authority NOCFA and Fenton Fire Department for their assistance.”
