State Trooper’s Vehicle Hit on Side of I-75 During Traffic Stop, Prisoner and Officer Injured

Independence Township, MI – A Michigan State Trooper and the person they’d just arrested were injured on the shoulder of I-75 near Clarkston Wednesday when a 16 year old driver “drifted onto the right shoulder and struck the patrol car,” according to police.The crash occurred around 6:30pm near Clarkston Road.
The patrol car was pushed into the arrestee’s vehicle, causing major damage to both.
The officer and the prisoner both had lacerations on their face, and the officer had a potential broken arm. Both were taken to the hospital and the freeway was closed for hours to investigate. The driver was a 16 year old driving a Dodge Durango.
The prisoner who was injured had been stopped for impaired driving and had been in the front passenger seat of the patrol car when the crash occurred.
