OC Restaurant Quest: Los Tres Amigos in Downtown Farmington

Farmington, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County continues with our third for the year – Los Tres Amigos in Downtown Farmington.
For my visit to this restaurant, whose name in English means “The Three Friends,” I ordered three delicious items to try.
First was the Fish Tacos – made with deep fried tilapia on a flour tortilla with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, mayo, special sauce which comes on the side, and fresh sliced avocado.
The second item was something I’d not had before, which was the Nopalitos. Nopalitos is cactus that comes grilled with a choice of black beans or pinto beans topped with onions, cilantro, queso and a special house sauce. This unique dish was chewy and satisfying with a mild flavor.
I also ordered a Big Burrito Amigos stuffed with grilled to order steak, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and beans, topped with cheese sauce. The meal also came with chips and salsa. Everything seemed to be made fresh and with care.
Other classic Mexican dishes include tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, fajitas and quesadillas. The Enchiladas Pacifico are made with sauteed shrimp, onions, and tomato topped with green sauce. And the Caramones a la Diabla are shrimp simmered in a hot sauce served with Mexican rice, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream.
According to Doordash, the Mexican Rice is the most popular item, followed by Refried Beans, with the Tacos de Carne Asada taking third.
Inside Los Tres Amigos, the decor is bright and eclectic, with booths designed with artistic Mexican scenes. In addition to being a popular spot for food, they are also known for their margaritas and other adult beverages.
