Linnie Taylor Appointed to Oakland County Commission, Representing Southfield Area
(Oakland County, Dec. 11, 2023)
Oakland County, MI – The Oakland County Board of Commissioners voted to appoint Linnie Taylor to represent county commission District 18, which includes Southfield Township, the villages of Franklin, Bingham Farms, and Beverly Hills, and portions of the City of Southfield, during its meeting on Thursday, December 7.
“Linnie’s experience in local government, professional background and deep commitment to helping people will make her an excellent commissioner,” said Woodward. “She is a proven leader, and we’re all looking forward to working with her to build a stronger county economy that works for everyone.”
Taylor was recently reelected to serve on the Southfield City Council, where she has served since September 2017. She has a master’s degree in human resources management and is retired from ThyssenKrupp Materials N.A. in Southfield, where she was a corporate payroll manager.
“I am humbled and proud to be appointed to the Board of Commissioners and represent the residents of my district at the county level,” Taylor said. “As a city council member, I have advocated for transparency, sensible government policies, civic and resident engagement, and I look forward to bringing my experience and perspective to the Board.”
Taylor has been a resident of Southfield, where she lives with her husband, for more than 30 years. She has four grown children.
The commission seat had been vacant since the resignation of former commissioner Janet Jackson, who was elected to fill the Southfield city clerk seat in November.
