OC Restaurant Quest – Carnival Market in Pontiac

Pontiac, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County took me to a carryout-counter in Pontiac inside a Mexican grocery store called Carnival Market.
I ordered the taco salad and a steak quesadilla. For the taco salad I opted for beef, which also had lettuce, tomato, corn, black beans, shredded cheese, and salsa blanca, all in a crispy tortilla bowl. I love breaking up the shell and mixing it all together for a salad full of flavor. The meat at Carnival Market is definitely more seasoned than at other places, making it both good and memorable.
The steak quesadilla was amazingly decadent, dripping with grease and spices, perfectly cooked, and messy as heck. Soooo good.
Carnival Market features a menu full of authentic Mexican dishes including tortas, burritos, and tacos. Tamales come in a choice of chicken or pork. And there is an amazing array of salsa choices, all made fresh in house.
One might also enjoy some chicken fries, loaded nachos, or Menudo soup made with beef tripe and served with cilantro, onions, and tortillas. Carnival Market is also packed with aisles full of grocery items catering to cooks of Hispanic fare.
