Troy Police Officer Shoots Driver of Stolen Vehicle Attempting to Evade Arrest

Troy, MI – Officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle on E Big Beaver, West of Daley. While the vehicle was stopped in traffic, Officers attempted to box in the stolen vehicle. The driver of the stolen vehicle began to ram his way out of the attempted box at an Officer in the roadway. The Officer fired his service weapon and struck the driver in the upper body. The suspect vehicle stopped, the driver was taken into custody and aid was immediately given. The driver was transported to a local hospital where he remains in custody and in stable condition.
The passenger of the suspect vehicle was treated for minor injuries resulting from the suspect’s attempts to ram his way out of the vehicle stop.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and asked to respond and complete the investigation.
E Big Beaver is closed at Daley and will remain so until the on-scene investigation is complete.
