Church Militant Announces Resignation of Michael Voris Due to Violation of Morality Clause
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 21, 2023)
Ferndale, MI – Church Militant/St. Michael’s Media, a media company that appeals to conservative Catholics, has announced the resignation of founder Michael Voris. A statement on their website says:
Fellow Catholics,
Church Militant/St. Michael’s Media was founded as a bastion of Catholic truth and a light to the faithful in hard times. This is why we are being fully transparent with you all.
Michael Voris has been asked to resign for breaching the Church Militant morality clause. The board has accepted his resignation.
We understand this is a shock to you all, but our founder and former CEO is stepping aside and focusing on his personal health.
The Board of Directors has chosen not to disclose Michael’s private matters to the public. The apostolate will be praying for him, and we kindly ask you to do the same.
Church Militant/St. Michael’s Media is just as positioned to save souls as it ever has been. There are more than 40 full-time employees on the cutting edge of Catholic truth moving forward with renewed fervor.
The apostolate will remain unwavering in its reporting and its commentary — defending Holy Mother Church from errors both inside and out.
We appreciate your continued support and prayers.
God love you,
Church Militant
Church Militant is a 501(c)4 corporation based in Ferndale whose enterprise was once known as Real Catholic TV until the Archdiocese of Detroit notified them they do not approve of them using the word “Catholic” to identify or promote their activities, even going so far as to make a public statement specifically about Church Militant. “The Church encourages the Christian faithful to promote or sustain a variety of apostolic undertakings but, nevertheless, prohibits any such undertaking from claiming the name Catholic without the consent of the competent ecclesiastical authority,” said the statement which remains on the Archdiocese website since it was issued in 2011.
Church Militant does, however, continue to speak in their online programming and public demonstrations, as standing up for Catholicism. “The Church Militant is the Christian militia. The Church Militant does battle against sin, the devil and the demonic “rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places,” according to their mission statement. The group is classified as an anti-LGBT Hate Group by Southern Poverty Law Center. They are based in Ferndale, operating also as St. Michael’s Media.
In April Church Militant members protested at Ferndale City Hall, asking that their flag – featuring a collage of the American Flag with Jesus and Mary on it, be flown on city property. Members have also protested local drag queen story time events.
