Ferndale Police Arrest Man Suspected of Robbing Local 7-Eleven Stores

Ferndale, MI – On November 14, 2023, at approximately 12:43 a.m., Ferndale police attempted to stop an unknown subject for a bicycle violation after he was seen “casing” the 7-Eleven store near 9 Mile Rd and Hilton. The subject fled from officers and was arrested after a short foot-pursuit. The unknown male matched the description of an armed robbery suspect wanted in connection with two separate armed robberies that occurred in the City of Ferndale:
On October 20, 2023, at 1:22 a.m., an unknown black male entered the 7-Eleven store located near 9 Mile Rd and Pinecrest. The suspect approached the counter and produced a folding knife. The suspect demanded money from the cash register. The clerk opened the register and handed over approximately $300 cash. The suspect fled the store on foot.
On November 1, 2023, at 6:03 a.m., an unknown black male entered the 7-Eleven store located near 9 Mile Rd and Hilton. The suspect approached the counter and demanded cash from the clerk. The suspect had his left hand in his pocket and implied he had a weapon. The clerk opened the register and handed over approximately $805 cash.
The suspect also stole the clerk’s cell phone and store phone. The suspect fled from the store on foot.
Investigations by Ferndale Police revealed that the suspect would “case” the area prior to each robbery, then flee the area on a bicycle afterward. Investigators worked with several surrounding agencies and learned that the suspect committed a series of armed robberies of 7-Eleven stores between October 18 and November 6. The suspect admitted to investigators that he planned to rob the 7-Eleven store on the morning of November 14, 2023.
On November 15, Rayshawn Sealy, 23, of Hazel Park, was arraigned by 43 rd District Court Magistrate Brennan on two counts of Armed Robbery. Sealy was given a $200,000 cash or surety bond and is scheduled to appear next on November 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
