2023 Election Results in Oakland County

Oakland County, MI – Unofficial Election results are coming in from across Oakland County.
Auburn Hills – In Auburn Hills, Mayor Kevin McDaniel ran unopposed, and won. Several candidates were vying for four seats on Auburn Hills City Council. Cheryl Verbeke, Brian Marzolf, Shawanna Fletcher, and Jack Ferguson were successful. Those who did not get elected were Christopher Boyer, Timothy Carrier, Eric Cionka, Chauncey Hitchcock, and Gregory Ouellette.
Berkley – In Berkley, Mayor Bridget Dean was unopposed. For City Council there were four candidates running for three seats. Ross Gavin, Greg Patterson, and Clarence Black were elected. Michael Dooley was not.
Birmingham – In Birmingham there were four candidates running for four City Commission seats: Clinton Baller, Brad Host, Anthony Long, and Therese Longe. For Library Board the three winning candidates were Wendy Friedman, Karen Gilbert Rock, and Jennifer Wheeler. Curtis Trimble was not selected. Voters passed a Senior Millage Proposition with 69.04% voting yes. Voters declined a marijuana sale ordinance, with 73.55% voting no.
Bloomfield Hills – In Bloomfield Hills there were five candidates running for five City Commissioner seats. The successful candidates were Bradley Baxter, Alice Buckley, David Fisher, Lauren Fisher, and Susan McCarthy.
Clarkston – In Clarkston there were three candidates running for three seats. Gary Casey, Theodore Quisenberry, and Laura Rodgers will be filling those positions.
Clawson – In Clawson, Paula Millan was re-elected Mayor with 63.88% of the votes. Andrea Hodges had 35.79%. For City Council there were five candidates running for two seats. Susan Moffitt was elected with 1381 votes, as was Matt Binkowski who had 1182 votes. Scott Tinlin had 1117 votes, Nathan Hara had 839 votes, and Louis Samson had 481 votes. The new City Charter was approved with 58.21% voting in favor.
Farmington – In Farmington there were three candidates running for three seats. Serving on city council will be: Johnna Balk, Joe LaRussa, and Kevin Parkins.
Farmington Hills – In Farmington Hills, Theresa Rich was elected Mayor with 51.41% of the votes. Kenneth Massey received 48.46%. For City Council there were several candidates running for three seats. The successful candidates were Bill Dwyer with 8937 votes, Jackie Boleware with 7920 votes, and Jon Aldred with 6958 votes. Those not elected were Asim Khan, Valentina Lucaj, Alex Meyers, and Mary Newlin.
Ferndale – In Ferndale Raylon Leaks May won the Mayor race with 3218 votes. Sean Hurley received 718 votes. For City Council there were three candidates running for two seats. The winners were Donnie Johnson with 2680 votes and Rolanda Kelley with 2370 votes. Dennis Whittie received 2360 votes.
Hazel Park – In Hazel Park there were two council persons selected. Incumbent Andy LeCureaux earned 942 votes, and will be joined by Andrea Washington who earned 681 votes. Not selected were Al Casinelli with 557 votes, and Tracy Pease with 387 votes.
Huntington Woods – In Huntington Woods, Mayor Robert Paul successfully ran unopposed. For City Commission there were two candidates running for two seats, with Michelle Elder and Jessica Jacobs Steinhart selected.
Keego Harbor – In Keego Harbor there were two candidates for two City Council positions. Robert Kalman and Joel Ross were selected. Three marijuana-related ordinances were on the ballot also, none of which passed.
Lake Angelus – In Lake Angelus there were three candidates running for three seats. Tony Messina, Gary Parlove, and Mark Symonds were selected.
Lake Orion (Village) – In the Village of Lake Orion, voters declined to remove the funding mechanism for the Downtown Development Authority. 57.22% voted no, and 42.78% voted yes.
Lathrup Village – In Lathrup Village there were several candidates vying for three seats. The winners are incumbent Mayor MyKale Garrett (892 votes), Jason Hammond (751 votes), and Dalton Barksdale (565 votes). Those not making it were Allen Weaks (515 votes), Barbara Kenez (486 votes), and Karen Mills (473 votes).
Madison Heights – In Madison Heights, Mayor Roslyn Grafstein ran unopposed, and won. For City Council there were five people running for three seats. Incumbents Emilie Rohrbach, Quinn Wright, and Sean Fleming were re-elected. Not selected were Toya Aaron and Al Gui. There was also a partial term seat on the ballot, ending Nov. 10, 2025, which William Mier won as he had no competition on the ballot. All five proposed Charter changes also passed.
Northville – In Northville, Brian Turnbull ran unopposed for Mayor. For City Council there were four candidates vying for two seats. The winners were Laura Genitti with 1226 votes, and Barbara Moroski-Browne with 916 votes. Marilyn Price had 907 votes and Robert Sochacki had 821 votes.
Novi – In Novi, Justin Fischer has been elected Mayor with 57.27% of the votes. Aaron Martinez had 42.62%. For Novi City Council there were six candidates for three seats. The winners were Laura Casey with 6151 votes, Matt Heintz with 6102 votes, and David Staudt with 5904 votes. Those not selected were Sujata Raman with 5614 votes, Jay Dooley with 5236 votes, and Joe Peddiboyiana with 3696 votes.
Oak Park – In Oak Park, Mayor Marian McClellan ran unopposed for re-election. For Oak Park City Council there were three candidates running for two seats. Incumbents Julie Edgar and Solomon Radner were re-elected. Crystal Bailey was not selected.
Orchard Lake – In Orchard Lake, there were three candidates running for two City Council seats. David Steuer and Kelly Mandel were elected, each receiving 240 votes. Tony Castiglione had 196 votes.
Pleasant Ridge – In Pleasant Ridge there were two candidates running for two positions. Chris Budnik and Ann Perry were selected.
Rochester – In Rochester there were several candidates running for four seats. Winners are Marilyn Trent, Douglas Gould, Debbie Jones, and Christian Hauser. Not selected were David Berletich, and Ann Peterson. There were also two marijuan proposals on the ballot, which failed.
Rochester Hills – With 95.45% of the votes counted as of 1:45am, it’s clear that Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett has been re-elected with approximately twice as many votes as Ariane Paviani, presuming that the majority of write-in votes are for him. Because of Term Limits, candidates seeking more than two terms must run as a write-in. For Council Member at Large there were two candidates and two seats, so Theresa Mungioli and Marvie Neubauer will serve. In District 2, David Blair won with 68.84% of the votes. Nicholas Sahu had 30.96%
Royal Oak – In Royal Oak, Mayor Michael Fournier retained his seat with 9064 votes. Trish Oliver got 6477 votes. For City Commission there were six people running for three positions. Winners were Amanda Herzog with 8592 votes, Monica Hunt with 8589 votes, and Rebecca Cheezum with 8274 votes. Not selected were Peter Frenczy with 5339 votes, Kathie Grant with 5263 votes, and Wade Sutton with 5432 votes. There were 53 unassigned write ins as well.
South Lyon – In South Lyon, Steve Kennedy won the Mayor’s seat with 75.69% of the vote. Jacob McLeod got 24.17%. For Council there were four candidates vying for three seats. Those elected were Lisa Dilg with 1639 votes, Thad Bogert with 1364 votes, and Margaret Kurtzwell with 1176 votes. Jean Dendel received 971 votes.
Southfield – In Southfield, Janet Jackson was selected for Clerk with 75.65% of the votes. Gabi Grossbard got 25.18%. For City Council there were five candidates running for four seats. Those elected were: Nancy L M Banks, Daniel Brightwell, Charles Hicks, and Coretta Houge. Yolanda Haynes was not selected. For the partial term City Council seat with a term ending Nov. 17, 2025, Michael Ari Mandelbaum was elected with 63.65% of the vote. Ryan Foster received 35.95%.
Troy – In Troy, Mayor Ethan Baker ran unopposed for re-election. For City Council there were several candidates running for three seats. The winners were Theresa Brooks, Ann Erickson Gault, and Mark Gunn. Those not selected were Hirak Chanda, Edward Kempen, Dale Murrish and Edward Ross.
Walled Lake – In Walled Lake there were three candidates running for three City Council seats: Casey Robert Ambrose, Tamra Loch, and Ryan Woods.
Wixom – In Wixom, Patrick Beagle ran unopposed for Mayor, winning with 97.82% of the vote. For City Council there were four candidates for three seats. The winners were Peter Behrmann, Keenan Gottschall, and Robert Smiley. Jeanette Wareham was not elected.

Oak Park Schools – The non-homestead operating millage replacement and restoration proposal passed with 64.64% in favor.
