OC Restaurant Quest: El Fogon in Auburn Hills
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 2, 2023)
Auburn Hills, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County led to a carryout at an authentic Mexican grill in Auburn Hills called El Fogon.
It was my first time ever trying sopes, which is a thick round corn flower shell with high edges to help hold in toppings, which include a choice of meat, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and cheese.
I also ordered two tostadas, with corn tortillas topped with chicken, lettuce, tomato cheese, sour cream, and fresh sliced avocados. The meal came with a variety of sauces, and I also ordered a pineapple flavored Jaritos soda. Everything was fresh, convenient, and good.
For dessert I had the Tres Leches Cake. Other dessert choices include Churros, Napolitan Flan, and Mexican Strawberries with Cream.
El Fogon has a menu full of traditional favorites like tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and more. They also have entrees like the Tampiquena/Grilled Skirt Steak, Camarones Al Fogon/Mexican Style Spicy Shrimp, and Cola Chicken made with a sweet and spicy sauce.
There are two El Fogon locations, one at 3047 Walton Blvd. in Auburn Hills and the other at 31081 Hayes Road in Warren. For more info and easy online ordering visit https://elfogondetroit.com/
