OC Restaurant Quest – Sparkies Kitchen & Bar in Highland

Highland, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County took me to Sparkies Kitchen & Bar in Highland. This is a great space with comfy booths for those dining in, and easy online ordering for those wanting their meals to go.
The first time I was there, after a wonderful hike in the nearby state park, I stopped in for a delicious Pot Roast dinner. This feast was made of tender braised beef, real mashed potatoes, carrots and onions, topped with onion straws, and a Burgundy wine sauce. It was served in a nice hot skillet, tasting as amazing as it looked.
I also got carryout a different day, again in the mood for comfort food. I loved the crispy chicken sandwich with mac and cheese and cole slaw. The Applewood Mac and Cheese was made with cavatappi pasta, cheddar, applewood bacon, panko parmsean, bread crumbs, and melted gorgonzola. I also had the house-made carrot cake tower, with layers of cream cheese frosting and caramel sauce.
The menu is full of good choices, including Juan’s Sizzlin’ Fajitas, Chicken and Mango Quesadilla, Shrimp Alfredo, Bleu Sirloin and more.
