OC Restaurant Quest: Universal Coney Island in Pontiac

Pontiac, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County took me recently to Universal Coney Island in Pontiac for some classic coney dishes. The crispy chicken ranch pita was made with tasty chicken, fresh lettuce and tomato, and ranch on a nice soft pita. The chili cheese fries and the coney island had the classic chili and gooey processed cheese that one would expect. But the real joy was the French Toast. It seemed to have been fresh-made, and sprinkled with cinnamon. For small local restaurant, with low prices, it was good.
Universal Coney Island has a number of items on their menu, including fried mushrooms, stuffed poppers, a selection of salads and nachos, stir fry dishes, sandwiches and more. Breakfast is served all day, with items like waffles, omelettes, and skillets. And, for those inclined to order dessert, chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake are among the choices.
