OC Restaurant Quest – Dogwoods Kitchen and Bar in Pontiac

Pontiac, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County took me to Dogwood’s Kitchen and Bar in Pontiac. Located at 1101 Walton Boulevard, Dogwood’s is easy to access from Auburn Hills, Orion Township, and Rochester Hills, as well as hungry patrons of Pontiac. Plus there is plenty of parking, and ample seating inside and out.
I made two visits for carryout orders.
The first was for the Short Rib Tacos, which came topped with shredded short rib meat, pineapple salsa, avocado crema, and cilantro. This was such a great combination, and the mix of colors made it look beautiful. I got it with DW Seasoned Fries that had a fun and interesting flavor to them.
I also loved the Brussels Sprouts, which were pan roasted with bacon and brown sugar glaze. I get Brussels Sprouts pretty regularly, but none have tasted as so candy-like as these. I got them on both visits actually.
On that second visit I got the Cowboy Burger – a feisty-tasting feast of meat topped with pork belly confit, cheddar cheese, crispy onions, chipotle bbq, and pickled jalapenos. Whoo-wee that was a good burger. I also got the seasoned fries to go along with it.
Dogwood’s menu is full of creatively-crafted meals, including Crab and Shrimp Boil Pasta, Strawberry Salmon Salad, Bang Bang Shrimp, Nashville Hot Chicken Handheld, Rasta Pasta and more.
For dessert one might enjoy the Churro Waffle, 5 Layer Chocolate Cake, or the 6 Layer Celebration Cake.
According to their website, Dogwood’s was created by Chef Oscar Gonzales who learned to cook from Grandmother, who prided herself on using fresh ingredients and taught him the importance of food bringing people together.
