Victor Cardenas Settles in as City Manager of Novi

Novi, MI -Victor Cardenas had been working for the City of Novi since 2010 as Assistant City Manager before recently moving up to the position of City Manager following the departure of Pete Auger. Cardenas was offered the position in a unanimous vote.
He knows Novi well after being a long-term assistant city manager, so that made the transition smooth for him.
Cardenas said, “It’s very collaborative environment. We all were blessed with a lot of long tenured employees. So, we all know our positions and our responsibilities really well. We have a good time with one another. We enjoy each other’s company.”
The environment of city hall is familiar, and the roughly 270 employees of city hall are not strangers to Cardenas. He is grateful for his team and is happy to continue working alongside them to serve the city.
This synergy and relationships he has already fostered with his coworkers and community will help him to check in with the city departments preparing all information for upcoming meetings to best provide for the residents of Novi.
Cardenas is passionate about Novi, and that translates into his dedication to his position for the city.
“I would just say we’re a fantastic community we have we have a great team, a great group of employees that serve as a city, day in and day out. It’s the reason why I got into [city government],” Cardenas said. “I love government work and city government work. You get to see the fruits of your labor firsthand. And no one day is ever the same. There’s always different things to do and different opportunities that you’re presented with.”
Being able to give back to a community that he loves so dearly is a very special opportunity to Cardenas, and he is eager to raise Novi up as the multicultural community and business environment that it is.
The City of Novi “makes every day different and never dull. It just makes a very vibrant and exciting place to work day in and day out,” Cardenas said.
