OC Restaurant Quest – Sushi and Thai Lake Orion

Oxford, MI – Sushi and Thai Lake Orion has a pretty self-explanatory name, apart from the fact they are located in Oxford. But don’t worry, they’re close to the border at their 955 S. Lapeer Road location. And they’re hard to miss with a bright orange awning and ample parking.
It was a joy grabbing some carryout to enjoy at one of the area’s many beautiful nature parks.
I picked three sushi rolls to have a sampling for my Restaurant Quest.
The #47 tuna roll was refreshing with thin-sliced cucumber and green onion accompanying the fresh tasting fish.
I also had the #35 Philly Roll, made with meltingly good smoked salmon, creamy fresh avocado, cream cheese and masago.
But my absolute favorite was the Hawaiian Crunch Roll, heavenly sweet circles of rice with tuna, imitation crab, cream cheese and mango, rolled with coconut and flash fried. This was crunchy, sweet, complex and rewarding. Those everything was really great.
Sushi and Thai has dozens of sushi options like the Yum Yum Roll (Escolar, imitation crab, eel, cream cheese, and avocado then entire roll is flash fried and topped with spicy mayo and sweet drizzle), The Pot of Gold Roll (Salmon, cream cheese, and scallions topped with salmon and ikura), and the Hot Mama Roll ( Hot Mama Roll (1/0) Shrimp, cream cheese, avocado, then flash fried and topped with spicy tuna, jalapeños, and spicy mayo).
Beyond Sushi there are authentic Thai food options as well, including a variety of Thai Fried Rice dishes, and House Specialties like Pla Duk Thai (catfish salad), Phed Pa Low (roasted duck), and Pad Goong (shrimp stir fry). Appetizers include Curry Puff, Tofu Todd, Crab Rangoon and more. The website says ingredients are imported from Thailand for the most authentic flavors.
