Ferndale, MI – Ferndale Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has a new Executive Director.
Jennie Beeker is a Ferndale resident, who is excited that her ten-year “Ferndale-versary” is coming up this year. She’s also excited to take on the DDA Director job.
City Manager Joe Gacioch introduced Beeker, saying “She comes to us with a lot of executive, project management, and strategic expertise.”
As an interested resident, she participated in Ferndale’s Fern and Learn program which helps residents get to know the various departments in the city. Beeker’s most recent position is Lean Project Manager – Workforce Development at City of Detroit. She has an MBA from Duke University.
Beeker previously lived in New York and North Carolina, and did not know much about Ferndale when she moved here.
“When I got here I realized the downtown is really incredible. I can walk to all these places. And it’s been a real treat to see this area grow over the last ten years,” Beeker said. “And I’m even more excited to be part of it’s future.”
Beeker told Council that she is passionate about equity, inclusivity, and sustainability. She wants to ensure “that what we’re growing here in Ferndale should be for everyone, and should be able to last.”
“Welcome, and we’re glad you’re on team Ferndale,” Mayor Melanie Piana said.
