OC Restaurant Quest: El Patio in Berkley, Farmington Hills, Troy, and Waterford
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Aug. 27, 2023)
Berkley, Farmington Hills, Troy, and Waterford, MI – A locally-owned chain of Mexican restaurants has some amazing food and four locations across Oakland County. I enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Downtown Berkley locations, which has tables next to giant open windows looking out at 12 Mile Road.
I ordered the steak fajitas made with grilled onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes in a crispy flour tortilla topped with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream. The veggies were fresh and the steak was perfectly sizzled. The beans stood out as being more flavorful than other restaurants I’ve reviewed. So good.
The menu is full of Mexican favorites, like the Mole Poblano, which is chicken strips marinated with red mole sauce with rice, guacamole and tortillas. There are also Chimichangas, Enchiladas, Tacos, and Burritos. There is even a section for seafood that includes Shrimp Fajitas, Fish Tacos, and Coctel de Camaron Y Pulpo (shrimp and octopus cocktail). El Patio also has a full bar with a selection of imported beer, as well as multiple flavors of margaritas.
