Construction Alert: John R Resurfacing Project Begins Wednesday
(RCOC, Aug. 15, 2023)
The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with the City of Troy, expects to begin a major resurfacing project on John R Road, from 14 Mile Road to Maple Road, on Wednesday, Aug. 23.
Two-way traffic and access to businesses will be maintained throughout the project. Motorists should expect delays during peak traffic times.
The approximately $3.14 million project will include:
- Milling (grinding off existing pavement) and resurfacing with two layers of asphalt
- Upgrading traffic signals
- Repairs to curb and gutter
- Replacement of concrete slabs in poor condition
- Upgrades to guardrails
- Minor drainage improvements
The project will be paid for primarily with federal funds, with the remaining cost shared between RCOC, the City of Troy and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program). The contractor for this project is Pro-Line Asphalt of Washington Twp., MI.
This section of John R Road carries approximately 22,600 vehicles daily. Project completion is expected in mid-November.
