Woman Killed in Crash on Lapeer Road, Police Seek Witnesses
Auburn Hills, MI – On Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11:27 a.m., personnel from the Auburn Hills Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a serious injury crash on Lapeer Road (M-24) south of Harmon Road.
Initial reports from witnesses described one person had been ejected from a vehicle after it rolled over. The preliminary investigation reveals that the driver of a 2021 white Ford F-150 truck, driven by a 36- year-old man from Oakland Township, was attempting to turn onto southbound Lapeer Road from a median turn-around.
The Ford F-150 pulled out and struck a 2002 tan Cadillac Escalade, driven by a 43- year-old woman from Pontiac, who was traveling on southbound Lapeer Road. This impact caused the driver of the Cadillac to lose control and cross over the median onto the northbound side of Lapeer Road, where the vehicle rolled, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Two young girls, a 5-year-old and 3-year-old, were occupants in the Cadillac Escalade and were also injured in the crash.
Personnel from the Auburn Hills Fire Department transported the driver and occupants (children) of the Cadillac to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital.
The 43-year driver of the Cadillac suffered life threatening injuries as a result of this crash and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Her young children sustained injuries in the crash and are expected to be okay.
The driver of the Ford F-150 was the lone occupant in the truck and was not injured. He is cooperating with investigators. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. This crash is currently being investigated by the Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT). SOCCIT consists of crash investigators from Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Twp., Troy, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, and Clawson.
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Auburn Hills Police Department at 248-370-9460.
