OC Restaurant Quest: The Grill in Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake, MI – There’s a family restaurant/bar in Sylvan Lake called The Grill, and they have Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes topped with caramelized brown sugar and butter rum syrup.

I don’t even know what more anyone needs to know, because the taste of pineapple tidbits and soft sweet cake, drenched in a syrup like none other is absolutely amazing.

The Grill also has pumpkin pie pancakes, or regular pancakes topped with chocolate chips, blueberries, or bananas.

For those that aren’t as excited about pancakes as I am, there are plenty of more savory breakfast dishes. The Feisty Feta Omelet has broccoli, onion, tomato, green peppers and a zesty feta cheese sauce. The Huevos Rancheros has seasoned black beans, two eggs, tomatillo salsa, queso fresco, tomatoes, red onion, guacamole & corn tortillas. And the Smoked Salmon Plate has smoked salmon, tomato, red onion, everything bagel, and herbed cream cheese. And those just scratch the surface of the meals available.

To go along with my pancakes, I ordered the Breakfast Burrito, made with bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs, and cheese wrapped in a soft flour tortilla.

The Grill also has lunch, dinner, and a bar. Among the choices are the hot turkey sandwich, stacked meatloaf, classic lasagna, a selection of tacos and sandwiches, plus delicious healthy salads. For entrees one might try the Potato Crusted Walleye, New York Strip Steak, Baby Back Ribs, Balsamic Chicken and more.
