WOTA Expands On-Demand Service to Orchard Lake, Keego Harbor, Sylvan Lake and Lake Angelus

Highland Township, MI – Western Oakland Transportation Authority (WOTA) is proud to announce that they will be expanding into new communities and piloting extended hours for employment and medical rides.
WOTA provides transportation for seniors (55+) and adults with disabilities (18+).
Residents of the City of Orchard Lake, the City of Keego Harbor, the City of Sylvan Lake, and the City of Lake Angelus will now have access to WOTA’s door-to-door transportation service. These communities are added to the existing communities of Highland, Walled Lake, Waterford, and White Lake.
“Providing service to these new communities will enable many to continue living meaningful and engaging lives,” said Kim Viener, Director of WOTA. WOTA is the conduit for access, regardless of ability, to employment, health, social engagement, and recreation. We are excited to work with the residents of these fantastic communities.”
In addition, WOTA is piloting an extended hours program for workers and medical rides.
“By providing longer hours for riders using WOTA for employment and medical, we are paving the way for fully expanding the program. As WOTA builds the program, we are excited to see millage dollars at work in our communities,” said Rick Hamill, WOTA Board Chairman and Highland Township Supervisor.
Founded in 2020, WOTA provides door-to-door, demand-response transportation to seniors and adults with disabilities in western Oakland County. With more than 30 barrier-free vehicles, a service area of almost 300 square miles and low fares ($2 a stop), WOTA provides opportunities for employment, medical, recreation or any reason to keep community members active and engaged.
