OC Restaurant Quest: Battle Alley Coffee in Downtown Holly
(Crystal A. Proxmire, May 15, 2023)
Holly, MI – Because I don’t drink coffee, I don’t as often get to review coffee shops. But recently Battle Alley Coffee in Downtown Holly has added breakfast sandwiches to their menu to go along with their baked goods offerings.
In addition to coffee served in a variety of ways that I know nothing about (like cappuccinos and mocchiatos, and coffee drinks like the Minty Mailman and English Toffee), Battle Alley Coffee also has cans of sodapop. I had root beer. Those who love coffee though might be interested in ordering freshly roasted whole beans, or pre-ground coffee as well as the fresh-brewed beverages. Some is single-source, and others are gourmet blends. Coffee can be purchased in-store or online, with wholesale options available.
I also tried two French Macaroons, which are a delightful treat of chewy cookie layered with delicate creamy filling. There are a mix of those offered as well as muffins, scones and other pastries which can vary by the day. For my sandwich I had the egg and sausage with cheese on a toasted everything bagel. This convenient sandwich can be enjoyed in the eclectic coffee shop atmosphere, or ordered to-go for a meal on the run.
Beyond the food, Battle Alley Coffee doubles as a gift shop, featuring artsy items, seasonal decor, coffee mugs, magnets, postcards and other delightful things people enjoy. There’s even a section dedicated to dogs!
The location in the heart of Downtown Holly, inside an historic corner building with lots of windows, makes it the perfect place to sit, and sip, and watch the world go by. Owner Linda Stouffer is often on hand for some good conversation. Or enjoy the perk of free wireless internet throughout the historic section of Downtown Holly.
Battle Alley Coffee is located at 101 Battle Alley. Stop in or check them out online at www.BattleAlleyCoffee.com
