Royal Oak Schools Celebrate NATAS-Nominated Film Students

Royal Oak Schools is proud to announce that two of their students have received MI-NATAS Emmy nominations, and one has taken an award home.
“We couldn’t be more proud,” said Film/Television/Video Production teacher at Royal Oak High School, Mike Conrad, after Dakota Hendren was announced as a winner in the Light News category. “And BIG props to Toby for his nomination! So proud of both of these kids for all the hard work they pour into every production.”
Dakota Hendren was on Vice President Kamala Harris’ press tour and was able to ask the VP a question. That news story was nominated and won the High School News Report – Light News category award.
Toby Buckheim was also up for a Michigan Emmy for his music video, “Snowhemian Rhapsody,” in High School Music Video category. (You may recall that Toby produced the video in the fall and had it ready for the district’s first snow day.)
The Michigan Emmys are a National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences chapter. The Michigan Emmy is awarded for excellence in television.
