Westbound I-96 to Remain Closed Overnight to Clean Up Glue Spill
Lyon Township, MI – Westbound I-96 is expected to remain closed between Milford Road and Kent Lake Road until Tuesday morning rush hour. This is for continued clean-up from a Monday morning crash, including truck removal, guard rail repair and hazardous material clean up on road and side slope.
According to Michigan State Police “Metro South troopers were dispatched to a semi-truck crash. Preliminary investigation, subject to change, revealed that the driver of a semi was traveling west I-96 at Milford when he allegedly was cut off by another driver and lost control of his truck. He veered right, hitting the metal barrier and getting stuck on top of it. The crash caused his contents to spill, which was glue. There are two heavy tows on scene stabilizing the truck from flipping over the barrier and going into the steep ditch and they are utilizing all lanes of travel to do so.MDOT will need to look at the damage to the guard rail/barrier to ensure the right lane will be safe to open once the truck is removed and clean up for the glue is completed. Traffic is currently being diverted off at Milford Rd. and can re-enter at Kensington Rd.”
The crash happened around 9:30am.
