Ferndale Man Arraigned on Felony Charges, Remains Hospitalized after Being Shot During Arrest
(Ferndale Police, April 8, 2023)
Ferndale, MI – On April 4, 2023, at approximately 9:33 a.m., Ferndale Police officers responded to a residential home
at 781 E. Webster, for an officer-involved shooting involving the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Wayne County Deputies were attempting to arrest a 25-year-old Ferndale man. The suspect, armed
with a knife, charged the deputies [corrected]. Deputies fired shots, striking the suspect. Deputies
immediately rendered life-saving measures and the suspect was transported to a local hospital.
One deputy sustained a stab wound to the leg and is currently in stable condition. A second deputy
sustained an injury to the hand and is being treated at the hospital.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit is investigating the officer-involved
shooting.

On April 7, 2023, Andrew Harvey, 25, of Ferndale, was arraigned by 43rd District Court Magistrate
Brennan on the following charges:
▪ 2 counts, Resisting and Obstructing causing Injury, 4-year felony
▪ 1 count, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, 4-year felony
▪ 1 count, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, 10-year felony
Harvey was given a $250,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled to appear next for a Probable Cause
Conference on April 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
Harvey is currently in stable condition and still in the hospital.]
