OC Restaurant Quest: Gino’s in Keego Harbor

(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 13, 2023)

Keego Harbor, MI – Since 1969 patrons have visited Gino’s Pizzeria and Restaurant in Keego Harbor. The restaurant recently reopened after a fire last May, and it was nice to give them a try. I ordered the Lasagna del Forno, a classic Italian dish made of wide noodles layered with ground beef and cheese swimming in tomato sauce. This comforting meal came served with a big bag of bread sticks and a small garden salad.

Other popular dishes include meat or cheese Ravioli, Linguine Carbonara, Chicken or Veal Piccata, Meatball Sandwich and more.

As the name suggests, they also have pizza, including a gluten-free crust that is available. Gino’s also has salads like the Greek, Antipasto, Caesar, and Michigan Salad made with crumbled bleu cheese, dried cherries and walnuts. Appetizers include Fried Calamari Rings, Shrimp Diavolo, Wing Dings and Sauteed Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions which the menu says is “a real favorite.”

The restaurant is a family-owned business run by Gino Santia and his sister Irene. Their parents were Italian immigrants who taught them the art of cooking. The restaurant has ample seating and a casual, family-restaurant-style atmosphere, plus carryout is available. Private rooms are available and can accommodate up to 100 guests. And there is a bar.

Gino’s is located at 1999 Cass Lake Rd in Keego Harbor.  Learn more at http://www.ginospizzakeego.com
