Contest for Kids K-8 to Create Art for Birmingham Farmers Market 2023 Tote Bags
BIRMINGHAM, MI, – In preparation for its 21st season, the Birmingham Farmers Market invites children of all artistic abilities, in kindergarten through eighth grade, to participate in the 2023 tote bag design contest. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of local judges with the winning artist’s design to be printed on the 2023 Birmingham Farmers Market reusable tote bags, distributed to hundreds of market goers during the season! Designs receiving honorable mentions will be displayed at the market and shared on social media.
Contest Rules:
- Entries will be accepted from children in grades K-8
- Entries should depict the theme “Farmers Market Fun”
- Artwork should be created on white paper in “landscape” format (8 ½”h x 11”w)
- Entries must be the artist’s own, original artwork and may not include elements that are not the artist’s own, original artwork
- Any media can be used: pencil, crayon, colored pencil, marker, paint, oil pastels, etc…
- The back of each entry must include:
o Artist’s first and last name
o Artist’s school and grade
o The full name, phone number and signature of the artist’s parent or guardian, which signifies consent that their child’s artwork may be reproduced and displayed, and that the name, school and grade of the artist may be used in PR and communications
- All entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023 in one of the following ways:
o By Mail: Mail your unfolded artwork to: Birmingham Shopping District, 151 Martin Street, Birmingham, Michigan 48009
o Deliver In-Person: Drop off your artwork in-person to the Birmingham Shopping District office at the address listed above, Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
o Email: Email a high resolution image or scan (300 dpi minimum) to Jaimi Brook at jbrook@bhamgov.org
Planning is currently underway for another exciting Birmingham Farmers Market season! Mark your calendar for the market’s Opening Day Party on Sunday, May 7. The market is open every Sunday, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., May through October, and is located in Public Parking Lot 6 at 660 North Old Woodward Avenue in downtown Birmingham.
