OC Restaurant Quest: 9 Oaks Grill in Oak Park

Oak Park, MI – At the corner of 9 Mile and Coolidge is a cozy diner with nice big booths and waitresses with kind smiles called 9 Oaks Grill.

This classic Oak Park restaurant has a variety of items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But for this column I’m sticking with two morning-time meals. It’s two because when I went the first time it was to meet with a local politician for some serious conversation, and I didn’t think Pigs in a Blanket would be a good choice for that. But, seeing it on the menu made me curious enough to go back a couple weeks after.

So, for the meeting I had the Broccoli and Swiss Omelette with cinnamon raisin toast. And my dining companion had the same. The nice big omelettes has plenty of delicious broccoli, and even a pretty little floret sliced on the top. The hash browns were the perfect mix of soft and crisp, and the sweet bread was a good finale. On a separate visit it was fun to try the pigs in a blanket. It’s a trio of sausage links, rolled up in pancakes.

Other breakfast choices include omelettes like the Grilled Chicken, the Spanish, and the Western. Plus there is corned beef hash, blueberry pancakes, and steak and eggs. Breakfast can be ordered any time.

Those wanting later in the day meals might like the Greek Salad, Fried Mushrooms, Paty Melt, or sandwiches like the Turkey Sandwich, Gryo Pita, or Chili Cheeseburger.  At the time of this writing, the restaurant closes at 6pm, so get your dinner orders in early.
