OC Restaurant Quest: Orion Sushi

Lake Orion, MI – I finally got to try Orion Sushi, and I was absolutely amazed. Everything was fresh, beautiful, and delicious.

The Angel Roll is made with crab stick, avocado, cucumber, cream cheese, smoked salmon, mayo, masago, and crunch. The tender fish on top seemed to soak up the flavor of the mayo, and just melted on my tongue.

I also ordered the Tempura Chicken roll, made with the most amazingly flavorful grilled chicken, cream cheese, and cucumber topped with this thick, rich teriyaki sauce. I was also impressed with the tempura vegetables, with the perfectly cooked Brussels sprouts being my favorite.

For desert I ordered the mochi, which is a rice cake ball filled with ice cream. The flavors vary, and for mine there was one green tea and one banana.

There are over 70 rolls on the Orion Sushi menu, including a whole series of rolls named for astrological signs.

Scorpio Rolls seem delightfully complicated with deep-fried soft-shell crab, cream cheese, cucumber, lettuce, masago, eggs, crab sticks, and eel sauce.  And the Sagittarius roll has a sassy side being made with deep-fried shrimp, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, chili sauce, tobiko, and crunch.

There are non-sushi entrees as well, including katsu, poke bowls, fried rice, bim-pap and more.
