Ferndale Community Foundation and Ferndale Pride Award Grants to Several Groups

(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 4, 2023)

Ferndale, MI – The Ferndale Community Foundation and Ferndale Pride recently awarded over $29,000 in grants to various community groups and organizations.

Ferndale Pride, which operates with FCF as the fiduciary, aims to support LGBTQ+ causes. Because of fundraising at the large Pride festival each year, they were able to award $4,000 to Affirmations, a community center in Downtown Ferndale. Three transgender groups were able to receive $1,500 grants. Those are Gender Identity Network, TGDetroit, and Transgender Michigan. Matrix Human Services and ACCESS, groups that work on health disparities for the community, each received $750.

The FCF had seven groups receiving $2,500, plus Renaissance Vineyard Food Pantry receiving $2,075. The groups are Ferndale Cat Shelter, FernCare Free Clinic, Ferndale Housing Commission, Ferndale Community Concert Band, Michigan Stage, SE Oakland Coalition, and Ferndale Public Schools Softball Teams.

Grantees were selected through an application process. “The grants provided through the foundation is truly a result of community effort,” said FCF President Dan Martin.  “From the events that make these grants possible, to everyone engaged in the work supported by the grants, our community continues to grow and thrive. It’s really a privilege to be a part of this effort.”

Ferndale Pride takes place this year on June 3 in Downtown Ferndale.  Learn more at https://www.ferndalepride.com.
