March 9 – Teachers in Oakland County Invited to Free Notice. Talk. Act. Training
OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) has partnered with the American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF) to share information about a unique mental health professional development training opportunity for Oakland County school staff.
The presentation on Notice. Talk. Act. ® At School is a school mental health education program created by APAF to help school staff know how to notice warning signs in the school setting, talk about mental health and related topics, and appropriately refer students to resources. This training was developed with both education and mental health professionals to bring best practices.
This SAMHSA-backed mental health professional development training is a unique opportunity to bring essential knowledge to your school. All K-12 schools in Oakland County are eligible to receive the training.
The information session will take place on Thursday, March 9th from 9 – 11 a.m. at the OCHN Administrative Building located at 5505 Corporate Drive, in Troy. Free breakfast will be provided. Click here to register for the event.
Additionally, you can visit the APAF website to learn more about the Notice. Talk. Act. ® At School program.
About OCHN
OCHN is contracted by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to lead a provider service network that assists approximately 27,000 Oakland County citizens at more than 300 service sites across the county. People who receive public behavioral health services through OCHN’s provider network include those who have an intellectual or developmental disability, mental health concerns, or substance use disorder. Most of these individuals have Medicaid insurance coverage.
OCHN’s goal is to ensure these individuals are aware of and have access to services and supports that will improve their health and quality of life, as well as ensure their engagement in full community participation. Its mission to “inspire hope, empower people, and strengthen communities” reflects an unyielding belief in a “Valuable System for Valued People.” Programs and supports provided by OCHN’s service network are available at www.oaklandchn.org.
