Ferndale White Castle Robbed, Suspect Arrested

Ferndale, MI – On February 7, 2023, at approximately 1:31 p.m., Ferndale police officers responded to White Castle, located at 21400 Woodward Ave., on a report of an armed robbery.
The unknown suspect, described as a Black male, approximately 55-60 years-old, glasses and a gray beard, walked up to the cashier demanding money. The suspect threatened he possessed a weapon but did not present one.
Approximately $200 was taken, and the suspect fled the restaurant. No one was injured during the robbery.
The suspect was involved in a hit-and-run accident at Eight Mile Rd and Woodward Ave as he fled the area. No one was injured during the accident.
On-scene investigation revealed the suspect arrived in a silver SUV and a partial license plate was obtained. Investigators utilized several law enforcement databases, including Flock Safety via the City of Detroit, to assist with identifying the suspect vehicle.
This case was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office and an arrest warrant was authorized. On February 15, 2023, the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team – US Marshals Task Force arrested the suspect without incident. On February 16, 2023, Ricky Crowder,64, of Detroit was arraigned by 43 rd District Court Magistrate Brennan on the following charges:
Armed Robbery, 1 count, felony Crowder was given a $250,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear next on February 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
