OC Restaurant Quest: Green Lantern Pizza

Rochester Hills, Michigan – Green Lantern Pizza has grown since we last wrote about them back in 2016. Now there are locations in Berkley, Clinton Township, Macomb, Madison Heights, Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, Troy, and Shelby Township.
For my recent order I picked black and green olives for the toppings, and carried out from the Rochester Hills location.
Green Lantern makes pizza the way that I like best – with soft perfect dough that makes bubbles in the crust, plenty of gooey and flavorful mozzarella, and quality toppings. And at a price that makes sense.
Olives make for flavor that pops, though there are many topping choices including pepperoni, ham, mushroom, onion, mild pepper rights, jalapeno, Italian sausage, anchovies, tomato, pineapple, spinach, artichoke and more.
Pizza comes in round or square shapes – including the “octopie” which is made to have eight corner pieces. There are specialty pizzas on the menu, including the Chicken Sicilano made with Cheese, Garlic Butter, Marinated Chicken Breast, Red Onion, Tomato, Mild Pepper Rings, Feta & Oregano.
In addition to pizza, Green Lantern offers sandwiches, salads, and side items like wings, chicken tenders, and cinnamon bread.
The website shares the history of Green Lantern, whose longtime Madison Heights location still has sit-down service with a bar. “Green Lantern Pizza was born [in 1955] when Thomas and Irene Vettraino bought an old farmhouse along with its green lantern. The green lantern was a holdover from a darker time — the Prohibition era. Legend holds that a green lantern in front of an establishment meant that you were able to purchase alcohol there. Something most of us can get behind.”
