OC Restaurant Quest:  El Guanaco in Auburn Hills and Troy

Auburn Hills, Troy, MI – The tastes of Latin America have found home in Auburn Hills and Troy with El Guanaco. With plenty of El Salvadorian and Mexican options, El Guanaco is a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

For an easy carryout lunch I ordered the chicken chimichanga.  This delicious meal had perfectly seasoned shredded chicken in a flour tortilla topped with cheese and salsa and served with sour cream, rice, and beans. This can also be made with beef or pork.

The tacos are also traditional style, made with chicken, beef, or pork garnished with onions and cilantro. Everything was fresh and delicious.

There are many more choices on the menu, including Salvadorian style chicken marinated with a distinctive blend of spices. Fried tilapia and shrimp tacos are among the seafood selections. And quesadillas, nachos, and enchiladas provide familiar favorites for guests.

The breakfast menu is also interesting, with huevos con chorizo (eggs with Mexican sausage), and chilaquiles (corn tortilla with cheese, tomato, and onion and choice of meat) are there for those hungry at the start of the day.

Plus there are licuados de frutas, called “fruit shakes” on the menu, made of strawberry, mango, papaya, or other mixes of fruit. Fried plantain is also a tasty fruit option.
