Feb 5 – Birmingham Annual Kids’ Dog Show to Benefit Youth Assistance
Birmingham, MI – Hey kids! Do you have the best looking dog on the block? Does your pooch have the waggiest tail ever?
On Sunday, February 5, come join Birmingham Youth Assistance at its 40th Annual Kids’ Dog Show and see how your dog stacks up against your classmates’ furry friends.
Local kids aged 4-14 are invited to bring their pups to compete for prizes in five fun and low stress categories: Best Costume (dog and child), Best Trick, Waggiest Tail, Best Looking, and Musical Sit (like musical chairs, but for pups).
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department will provide an exciting K-9 dog skills demonstration and also bring one of their comfort dogs for families to meet. An instructor from the Southern Michigan Obedience Training Club will show kids an easy obedience command they can teach their dogs, and DJ Music in Motion will have paws tapping to some great tunes.
This event is made possible by Birmingham Public Schools and the support of Mike Palmer and his team at Premier Pet Supply in Beverly Hills. Additional generous sponsors include the Southern Michigan Obedience Training Club, Beverly Hills Veterinary Associates, Mills Pharmacy, Earthborn Holistic Pet Foods, Fluff & Tuff, Oliver’s Beer Biscuits, and Blume Design.
“We are thrilled that this fun event has become such a popular tradition in our community,” said BYA chair David Wind. “The enthusiastic kids who participate each year and the generosity of our sponsors make this show possible and support the work of Birmingham Youth Assistance.”
The Kids’ Dog Show will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Berkshire Middle School, located at 21707 W. 14 Mile Road in Beverly Hills. Participants must be checked in by 12:30.
Advance registration for the Kids’ Dog Show is required by Friday, February 3rd. There is no registration at the door. The cost is $15 per dog and includes admission for the whole family, a goodie bag of special treats for your pup, and a fun-filled afternoon.
