Restaurant Quest: The Corner Social in South Lyon

South Lyon, MI – In the furthest SE corner of Oakland County is the quaint downtown of South Lyon. And in the heart of this downtown – at the corner of Lafayette and 10 Mile – is a community gathering place for food and drinks called The Corner Social.

I made my visit during a weekday, where ample sized tables and good wireless make it a great place to work, and by the end of my visit the tables around me were full of others doing the same.

I love the Italian Wedding Soup made with nice sized meatballs, a golden broth, little noodles and spinach. It came with slices of toasted sour dough bread from Zingermans. I also had the Sunrise sandwich which is a toasted croissant with an egg, sharp white cheddar, spinach, and pesto. This was also amazingly good.

To drink I had the Pina Colada smoothie for some tropical flavor to my meal.

The Corner Social has many, many beverage choices. There are other flavors of smoothies, a plethora of coffee and espresso-based drinks – hot and cold , plus a bar with an emphasis on their wine selection and their whiskeys.

Specialty cocktails include the Espresso Royale (espresso, Licor 43, fresh ground cinnamon), Cherry Blossom (vodka, cherry puree, fresh lime, splash of soda water), and the Sex on the Snowbank (Coconut rum, pineapple juice, coconut cream).

Food-wise there are more toasty sandwich options, including the Pulled Pork, the Cherry Chicken, and the Hunimooner which is smoked turkey, Swiss, and honey mustard on Zingerman’s challah bread. Soup choices include broccoli cheddar, white miso, tomato basil bisque and more.

The Corner Social is located at 101 S Lafayette in downtown South Lyon.
