Matt Pfeiffer Appointed Orion Township Trustee

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Jan. 17, 2023)

Orion Township, MI – The Orion Township Board of Trustees unanimously approved Matt Pfeiffer to fill the vacancy left by Kim Urbanowski when she resigned to accept the Treasurer Position following Donni Steele’s election to State Representative.

Pfeiffer is expected to serve in the position through Nov. 20, 20224.

Twelve residents put in their applications to serve, and a selection committee reviewed the application and interviewed the candidates.  They narrowed down the choices to three, and the board approved Pfeiffer at their Jan. 17, 2023 meeting.

Pfeiffer grew up in Lake Orion and is involved in many community efforts including the Real Men Wear Pink group that raises money for The American Cancer Society, helping with food distribution efforts at Woodside Church, and helping to coordinate donations and community support following the shooting at Oxford High School. He’s been named Citizen of the Year by both the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce and the Orion Area Parade Group.  He has also served as the Chamber President.

And he is the owner of Northern Wholesale Flooring.

“I’ve thought about getting into public service for a long time,” Pfeiffer told Oakland County Times.  “This opening gives me a shorter term to see how I like it, and to see if I can have an impact. The opening created by Donnie Steele’s rise to the State House created a 2 year window that is perfect for me to get a feel for it. I love working in our community and I’m excited for the opportunity to serve in a leadership role at the Township.”

Members of the Board thanked all the residents who applied, and urged those not selected to get involved on boards and commissions.  Information on opportunities to volunteer can be found at https://www.oriontownship.org/government/boards___commissions/index.php.
