Ferndale Housing Commission Seeks New Executive Director

Ferndale, MI – The Ferndale Housing Commission is hiring a new Executive Director following the announcement that Heather Van Poucker would be leaving for a position elsewhere.

The position has a posted salary range of $80,000-$120,000 depending on qualifications. The position is a full time one, with an office located at Withington West, 415 Withington Street in Ferndale.

According to the City of Ferndale website:

“The Ferndale Housing Commission is seeking a passionate, dedicated person to serve as their Chief Executive. This position will be responsible for strategic leadership, overall administration, staff management, financial oversight, and organizational performance. It will also oversee all administration of Low-Income Public Housing programs, Section 8 programs, related subsidized federal housing programs and any new programs as authorized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or the Board of Commissioners.

“The Ferndale Housing Commission’s mission is to provide affordable housing free from discrimination and to ensure quality housing in a safe and cost-effective manner through cooperation and communication with our residents and participants.

“The Ferndale Housing Commission is led by a Commission President and four other commissioners. Commissioners are appointed by the City of Ferndale Mayor and confirmed by City Council. The current board, led by President and newest member Dan Martin, is a stable, engaged group with great experience. The Commission is passionate about the mission of the Ferndale Housing Commission and is seeking a new Executive Director to continue leadership’s positive progress.

“The Ferndale Housing Commission has played an important role in providing affordable housing opportunities for the lower-income residents of Ferndale since its inception in 1969. The Commission administers 125 units of elderly/disabled housing in two separate high-rise apartment buildings, 43 family houses located throughout the City, and rental assistance for families through the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program.

Please note that this position is not with the City of Ferndale directly, it is with the Ferndale Housing Commission.
