While Ross is now an acclaimed artist with several exhibitions to his credit and many large-scale murals around the metro area (including two here in Ferndale), this upcoming exhibition, “A Short Time to be There,” marks 10 years approximately, since Mike’s first ever solo show back in 2013, which was ALSO hosted here at our library.
Join us on Thursday, January 12 at 5pm for a special opening reception! You can see Mike’s new works, meet & chat with the artist, and enjoy music (from Chad Stocker) and refreshments.
BUT, there’s an added component: back in 2013, at the original/aforementioned library show, Mike distributed several 5″x5″ strips of canvas to any interested participants with artful instruction sheets and directed them to plan on returning to the library “10 years later,” on January 12 @ 4pm. The Reception officially starts at 5 pm but if YOU’VE got a strip of canvas, you can feel free to come back, promptly at 4 pm (Mike will be here).
Now we’ll get to see what everyone did with those strips of canvas, when Mike reassembles as many of the pieces as possible at our event!
And, while you’re here, you can swing by our computer lab to see yet ANOTHER piece by Mike, ‘Color Phase,’ which was recently added to the library’s permanent collection.
