OC Restaurant Quest: Ginza Ramen in Rochester Hills

Rochester Hills, MI -The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County continues with Ginza Ramen in Rochester Hills. This Japanese fusion restaurant is best known for their Katsu, which is a cutlets of meat or seafood coated with a flaky breadcrumb batter and fried crispy. Ginza Ramen makes their own breadcrumbs from homemade bread each day. The meats are all fresh and their fantastically rich broth is also made in house daily.

I ordered the chicken katsu, and loved the homemade ingredients.  I also had the Gyoza which are Japanese potstickers. These pan-fried dumplings came stuffed with meat and veggies.  And the Agedashi Tofu, which are little squares of tofu that are fried and garnished.

The main dish was the Chicken Ramen with marinated egg. This was packed with tasty noodles and veggies, and even as a to-go dish the presentation was absolutely beautiful.  The decorative noodle added a touch of color, as did the pretty green of the scallions.  The broth was incredibly delicious, and the care they put into these homemade recipes is evident in this taste.

For dessert I had Moshi – two little balls of ice cream with a rice cake coating. The flavors for this rotate.

As Katsu is a staple of their menu, there are several choices inlcuding chicken, pork, fish, shrimp, and snow cheese. There are also a variety of noodle dishes including Yaki Udon, Spicy Bibmim Udon (which is served cold), and other types of ramen including Spicy Peanut Ramen and Shio Ramen. Katsu is also the feature for sandwich and salads, and even Katsu sushi rolls. Other appetizers include Edamame, Croquette, Spring Rolls, Calamari, Fried Oysters and more.
