Sheriff’s Office Warns of Armed Suspects in Area of Oakland University – UPDATED

Oakland County sheriffs issued the following alert just before 8 AM Monday:
ALERT. We are out on the campus area of Oakland University, working with our partners from Oakland University police, Auburn Hills and others. We encourage everyone at Oakland University to stay indoors until the situation is resolved. A chase from Genesee county involving three stolen cars, the occupants who had exchanged gunfire with a security guard while stealing those the cars. They fled into Oakland County and crashed. Suspects fled on foot and there is currently a perimeter and we are searching with dogs and aerial assets.
An 8:35 an update by OU on social media stated:
O.U. ALERT: Police continue to seek two armed suspects on campus. Residents and employees already on campus are advised to stay indoors. Commuters are advised not to report to campus until further notice. Visit oakland.edu for more information.
update from OCSO:
UPDATE on Oakland University area post. A witness was located that said two individuals marching the description of the suspects got into a vehicle that pulled up and they fled the area hours ago. The shelter in place is released.
