Dec 5 -Holly, History and Harmony Dinner at Buhl Estate

Holly, MI – Bring in the holidays with the Holly, History & Harmony program, scheduled for Dec. 5 at Addison Oaks County Park’s Buhl Estate.

The annual event will feature an educational tour and a performance by the Twelfth Night Singers, who will sing a wide range of a cappella holiday selections while dressed in traditional Renaissance attire. A buffet meal provided by Oak Management will include beef, chicken, pasta, vegetable, potato and salad bar. There are still openings for the dinner session from 5-8 p.m.

“Tickets have been selling quickly as our guests appreciate the opportunity to relax and enjoy the festive atmosphere this time of the year,” Recreation Program Supervisor Sandy Dorey said. “Program participants will learn about the history of the park and the Buhl Estate, enjoy a delicious meal and listen to seasonal music among colorful decorations. It’s a good time to catch up with friends and get a behind-the-scenes look at a park that is rich with history.”

The Historic Buhl Estate is a beautiful, English Tudor-style residence that was once home to Detroit industrialist Lawrence Buhl and his wife, Cora. It was designed by Robert O. Derrick, who also designed the Henry Ford Museum at Greenfield Village in Dearborn. Surrounded by a formal flower garden, it is an elegant setting for banquets, weddings and historical presentations as the banquet room overlooks one of many spring-fed ponds on the property.

Addison Oaks County Park was purchased and integrated into the parks system in 1969. Today, this 1,140-acre natural oasis features a campground, more than 20 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and winter fat tire biking and an 18-hole disc golf course.

The cost for Holly, History & Harmony is $45/person and includes the historical tour and meal. Preregistration and payment must be made by Nov. 21 by calling 248-858-0916. Clubs and groups are welcome. Addison Oaks County Park is located at 1480 W. Romeo Road just north of Rochester. For more information, email ActiveAdults@oakgov.com.
