Employee of Steve’s Deli Takes Own Life After Shooting at Restaurant, Injuring Co-Worker

Bloomfield Township, MI – On October 2, 2022 at approximately 10:00am, the Bloomfield Township Police Department was dispatched to Steve’s Deli at 6646 Telegraph Road for a shooting.
The suspect, a 52-year-old male resident of Detroit, fired multiple rounds from his vehicle into the front of the business. Steve’s Deli was open to customers at the time of the incident.
A 52-year-old female employee working at the time of the shooting suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital.
The suspect was identified as an employee of Steve’s Deli.
He fled the scene before Bloomfield Township Police arrived. Southfield Police Department located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the area of W. Outer Drive and Greenfield Road in the City of Detroit. The suspect took his own life inside his vehicle before Southfield police officers could make contact with him. No shots were fired by the police.
The motive for this shooting is unknown and the Bloomfield Township Police Department is actively investigating this incident. There is no immediate threat to the public.
